Advisor, Policy and Practice
CMI - Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation is an independent organisation that works to prevent and resolve conflicts through dialogue and mediation. Founded in 2000 by Nobel Peace Laureate and former President of Finland Martti Ahtisaari, we have since grown to be a leader in the field of international peacemaking.
CMI is now seeking an Advisor, Policy and Practice to support the work of CMI's Senior Leadership. The Advisor will closely follow trends within CMI's work and operating environment, facilitating connectivity between our experts and stakeholders from related fields. The Advisor reports to the Deputy CEO.

Your key responsibilities:
Preparing background briefs and speaking points as well as coordinating inputs from different parts of the organization;
Assisting in meetings and preparing missions of Senior Leadership;
Supporting outreach activities and contributing in internal and external communications.
Serving as a focal point for CMI's project on Policy and Practice, including
Planning and coordinating policy events (including NDC 2024)
Monitoring contextual developments on the field and conducting research on target themes and developing internal and external research outputs;
Maintaining contacts with academia and general outreach.
A successful candidate is expected to have:
Several years of experience in international politics preferably in the context of mediation.
Strong analytical skills. Understanding of issues relevant to the fields of mediation and dialogue. Established networks in the field, and skills in building and managing relationships with experts and officials are assets.
University degree from a relevant field. Advanced degree is an advantage.
Strong spoken and written skills in English are required. Finnish skills and other languages are an advantage.
Willingness to learn, can-do attitude and excellent communication and teamworking skills.

This position is fixed term parental leave replacement for 1 year and based in CMI's headquarters in Helsinki. The main working language is English. The preferred starting date is in autumn 2023 and will be set upon agreement.
